K.M.M Engineering College

ABOUT KMM

The activities of the Society are directed to concentrate on rural public and under- privileged. The task is taken up by a family of Educationalists. The Chief is an efficient administrator and a top Government Official. The Society ensures a clean transparent administration. The members have a spiritual background. They are popular for nobility and fairness. It is strongly believed that genuine education can never be forgotten. It enriches human character and quality of life.

Having established job-oriented courses at Degree level and produced world class professionals, shifted to Post Graduate level viz. M.C.A., M.B.A., B.Ed. and Engineering. The Society distinguished itself in attaining perfection from its inception in producing distinctions and high first classes. The figures speak for itself, in as much as, the percentage of distinctions is at 90% every time.

The name of KMM is at the tip of everybody’s tongue, whoever chooses to join the available Courses. This is supported by the fact that there is no vacancy in any faculty so far. Any new course started by KMM is filled in the Engineering College and College of Education.

The learned and devoted faculty members are the pillars behind this secret. Well established Laboratories in spacious buildings and the rich collection of Books, Magazines and Foreign Journals in Library are great assets of the Institutions.
The placement cell exists to ensure that all most all ongoing students secure a fairly good placement in life.

Besides academic excellence, the students are trained in Communication skills and personality development activities together with cultural and sports. It is the main aim of the Society to see that all the students leaving the Institute face the world boldly and with full competence and confidence.

Vision:

Enhancing the global competitiveness of technical manpower and by ensuring high quality technical education to all sections of the society.

Mission:

To attain academic excellence and innovative research and development programs. Promoting industry institute interaction, inculcating entrepreneurship. Providing affordable education to all. To be a forward looking organization that has an efficient, flexible and empowered manpower.

ACADEMIC OVERVIEW

Academic Stream
At KMMITS, semester pattern is followed. An academic year consists of two semesters. The Fall (Odd) Semester begins in June and the Winter (Even) Semester in December. The academic schedule mentioned in the academic calendar will be strictly followed.

Classroom teaching

Qualified faculty members assigned with various theory subjects prepare course plans using the standard format provided by the institute with emphasis on 'learning' of the students. The instructional or lecture delivery of the faculty will be through a set of Educational Technology / Tools opted by the faculty. The lectures lay emphasis on the following:

Knowledge content (topics in the curriculum)
Utility value - application in real life
Latest developments

The classroom sessions will be interactive and will encourage the students to think independently and inspire their creativity. The faculty will ensure that the students in the class have assimilated the content projected. High level of discipline will be maintained in the classroom. The faculty members are empowered to curb any disturbance and ensure that the time is used fruitfully. To this effect, students are expected to maintain decorum and refrain from causing any disturbance in the classroom.

Camera cell phones are prohibited in the campus. Students are advised not to carry cell phones to the classrooms and laboratories.

Classroom instructions may be supplemented by students' presentations and / or guest lectures by external/internal experts.

Attendance will be taken by the faculty concerned at the beginning of each session. All the classes will begin on time and the students coming late will not be given attendance.

Laboratory class:

Laboratory sessions are given utmost importance at KMMITS. All the students are expected to be regular and learn the practical aspects of the subject and develop the necessary skills to become professionals.

In order to facilitate interaction among the students and develop team spirit, the students are expected to carry out experiments in groups. The students should come prepared for each laboratory class. The students are expected to:

Read and understand the theory behind the experiment in advance
Come to the lab in time with prescribed Dress Code for the lab and
Bring the observation note book

The variables in the experiment might be given differently for different batches and hence it is expected that the students should complete' all aspects of experiment before leaving the lab.

The record of the experiment written neatly in the laboratory record should be submitted in the subsequent class which will be evaluated by the faculty on the same day and returned to the students. Students who have not submitted their records and those who come late to the lab class will lose their attendance.

The students are expected to adhere to the safety precautions prescribed for the lab. In case of any breakage of equipment due to carelessness of the students, the students concerned will be fined. Any malpractice done by the students will result in disciplinary action.

All the experiments in the laboratories are updated and obsolete ones are removed regularly. The students are expected to keep pace with the technological developments and equip themselves with the latest in the field.

Each student is expected to learn the experiments and train himself / herself to do the experiment individually during examination.

Assignments:

Students are continuously assessed throughout the course and due weight-age for this is given in the final assessment. Assignments / Seminars by students form part of continuous evaluation for both theory as well as lab classes.

Faculty members inform the students about the topics and due dates for the assignment / seminar well in advance and motivate the students to complete in time. Evaluation for these will be based on the following:

Originality
Creative Ideas
Research Papers Referred
Presentation Skills
Technical Contents

CIVIL ENGINEERING

Amongst all the engineering professions, civil engineering stands out to be oldest. Civil engineering has contributed enormously to the human civilizations of this planet in a way no other engineering profession can ever match with. Over thousands of years civil engineers have been shaping the earth into one of the most beautiful planets. Civil engineering is all about the design, construction and maintenance of natural and human built environment.

This requires a thorough understanding of the basic concepts of physics and calculus and progressive understanding of the concepts of geology, soil mechanics, structural analysis, hydrology and environmental engineering. The major specialties in civil engineering are structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydrological engineering, and environmental engineering.

The highly qualified, experienced and motivated teaching faculty from all the major specialties of Civil Engineering at KMM Institute of Technology & Science has committed itself with a missionary zeal in shaping the budding engineers into thoroughly professional civil engineers.

Towards achieving this goal, all the laboratories are being established with some of the best equipment and well trained laboratory personnel. Substantial budgetary plans and provisions have been made for making the national and international journals available to the students to keep them abreast of the latest developments in all the fields of civil engineering. The AICTE approved intake of the department is Contact Us
