Bonam Venkata Chalamayya Engineering College (BVCE)


Bonam Venkata Chalamayya Engineering College (BVCE) established in the year 1997. It is Accredited by NBA, affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada and Approved by AICTE, New Delhi, with a Vision “To provide technical education in various disciplines to rural students by encouraging social, cultural and literary activities who shall lead the Nation to a better future”.  The Institute offers 5 UG programmes in Engineering and Technology & 4 PG programmes.
The institution is located at Odalarevu about 20kms. from Amalapuram in East Godavari District and is far away from the din-bustle of township in a sprawling campus 40 acres surroundings by exhilarating nature with Casurina groves and coconut, cashew and other orchards.  This pleasant environment, fresh and fragrant, calm and serene is obviously a desirable environment very much conducive for the youth to prosecute professional course and receive training in personality development.  The ground water available over the entire campus is potable and is available in plenty.  The cool breezes even during semester, owing its proximity sea coast, is enjoyable and makes the campus environment more pleasant.


The college has spacious well-designed, adequately furnished and ventilated classrooms. All the laboratories of engineering and sciences are well equipped with the required equipments. The college is facilitated with  125KVA, 75 KVA capacity generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the conduct of academic activities. The laboratories and workshops are fully equipped with the state-of-art of facilities; particularly the computer centre, CAD/CAM center, Automated Library; Digital Library, 24 x 7 cable and Wi-Fi enabled 10 Mbps internet connectivity campus and language labs are value added assets to the college.
The college has accomplished remarkable growth in the past thirteen years. The students’ admission has been growing steadily year-by-year as in the case, in the first cradle year, i.e. 1997 the sanctioned intake was 180, which has now increased to 552. As the intake of students multiplies, so does the infrastructure of the college, which is constantly under expansion to keep pace with the growing need and trends of technology. BVCEC enjoys the reputation of being one of the best engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh nestled in serene atmosphere providing quality education.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in 1998 with an intake of 60 and subsequently, the intake was enhanced to 120 from the academic year 2007-2008. The department is headed by Dr. G. Jena with teaching experience of 13 years and total experience of 22 years. There are 25 staff members and the composition is 01 Professors, 06 Associate Professors and 18 Assistant Professors. Twelve faculty members have M.Tech qualification. In addition, there are ten programmers and support staff.

Facilities:
A separate internet lab with 10 Mbps bandwidth is provided to staffs and students. Around 130 dedicated systems are available for programing lab and for conducting online examination.The department takes active role in arranging expert lectures as well as Industrial visits for benefit of the students. National level student symposium resonance is conducted yearly. Students are encouraged to take up industrial projects. Moreover the students will also be motivated to present papers in student seminars, paper contests etc. Staffs are motivated to present paper in International and National conferences and workshops. The department has dedicated Research lab, SeminarHall and E Classroom.




Department Profile
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Bonam Venkata Chalamayya Engineering College was established in the year 1997. The B.Tech. (ECE) Program was duly approved by the AICTE and Government of Andhra Pradesh and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad till 2008. Since then College is under affiliation of JNTUK on atomization of State government and accredited by NBA.  The Department is offering M.Tech programme with two specializations i.e EMBEDDED SYSTEMS and   ECE since 2009 and 2011 respectively. Twelve B.Tech batches and One M.Tech batch are successfully completed from the department till date.
Dr. N.S.Murthy Sarma, Professor with a teaching and research experience of over 20 years is Head of the department. One Ph.D is awarded from JNTUH by the HOD with the flag of our department. Ten scholars are under his guidance in areas such as Low Power VLSI, Mobile communication etc. The department has committed and dedicated 32 teaching Faculty from ECE stream maintaining 1:15 Staff & Student ratio.

To create employable and entrepreneurial engineers with academic excellence, positive attitude, communication & interpersonal skills, good character, self confidence and leadership qualities and who are useful to the Family, Society and Nation. Also it is aimed for continuous development of faculty personality.

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bonam Venkata Chalamayya Engineering College was established in the year 1997. The B.Tech. (EEE) Program was duly approved by the AICTE and Government of Andhra Pradesh and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. 8 batches of students have been graduated so far.

Prof. J.V.G. Rama Rao, a dynamic personality with a vast teaching and academic experience is leading the department effectively since last five years. The department has 12 teaching Faculty, maintaining 1:15 Staff: Student ratio. In the team, there are 1 Ph.D (pursuing), 2 M.Techs, 1 M.Tech(Pursuing), 8 B Techs.

To create employable and entrepreneurial engineers with academic excellence, positive attitude, communication & interpersonal skills, good character, self confidence and leadership qualities and who are useful to the Family, Society and Nation.

Motivate all the faculty to adopt the latest techniques in teaching and learning process.
Encourage more than 75% of the II & III year students for in-plant training for 3 to 4 weeks.
Encourage the II, III & IV year students to present papers in students’ paper contests.
Motivate and encourage each faculty to present / author a technical paper / book in a year.
Sponsor / Depute teaching and non-teaching staff to acquire higher academic qualifications.

Achievements:

Academic
Students of Electrical and Electronics Engineering are doing reasonably well in the University examinations. A good number of students are taking up competitive examinations like GATE, GRE, CAT, TOEFL etc.

Number of students appeared / qualified in a GATE / CAT/ GRE / TOEFL / Central / State services through competitive examinations, more than 80% of our students are qualifying.

Placements
All the Alumni of the department are well placed in various professions. A good number of Students were selected in the Campus Interviews by leading companies like MPhasis, IBM, TCS, Satyam, Infosys, CTS, Converges, Accenture, Syntel, Vijay Electricals, Essar Transformers, A.P GENCO, A.P.TRANSCO, A.P.DISCOM, BHEL, NTPC, POWERICA, TATA POWER etc. Some of the Students are pursuing higher studies. Some more Campus Interviews are in the pipeline.

Major Activities of the Department

SOCIETY OF ELECTRICAL &ELECTRONICS ENGG DEPARTMENT
(SEEED) is a students’ body for conducting career developing, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills of students. It organizes Seminars, Quiz Programmes, Industrial Visits, Paper Contests, Group Discussions, Guest Lectures, Career Guidance, Games etc under its auspices. SEEED also organizes Technical Exhibitions for benefit of local public.

Co-curricular Activities:

The students are motivated and guided by the frequent expert lecturers in the department to display their technical skills. Students are allowed to participate in various co-curricular activities inside the college and inter institutional level with full privilege.
Our department offers a unique opportunity to students, for not only broadening their perspective, but also for an in depth view and feel of technological, managerial and administrative skills involved in their functioning.
