Location
Vijayawada is located on the banks of river Krishna in the state of Andhra Pradesh and is historically a cultural, political and educational center. The city is well connected by National Highway and Rail with Chennai (440 km), Hyderabad (275 km), Vizag (385 km) and is a central junction for trains running from North to South India. Daily flights operate from Hyderabad and Bangalore.
K L University is situated in a spacious 50-acre campus on the banks of Buckingham Canal of river Krishna, eight kilometers from Vijayawada city. Built within a rural setting of lush green fields, the Institute is a virtual paradise of pristine nature and idyllic beauty. The campus has been aptly named “Green Fields” and the splendid avenue of trees and gardens bear testimony to importance of ecology and environment. The campus ambience is most befitting for scholastic pursuits. The Institute has a built up area of around 8,00,000 sq. ft. and has over 84 laboratories.
History
K L University is a pioneer in the field of engineering education and research in private sector in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It was established as Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering in the year 1980. The college was made Autonomous in the year 2006 and in 2009 it is accorded Deemed to be University status.

Central Library occupies a place of pride in KLU and is an essential component of the institute’s outstanding research and education mission.
It is a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, and promotes discovery and scholarship. The mission of the Central Library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services. The Central Library system consists of Central Library and 13 departmental libraries, which collectively support the teaching, research and extension and employees of the Institute are permitted to make use of library facilities. The library has a huge collection of books on Engineering, Management, Science and Humanities and has been offering library services through its various divisions.

Library Computerization
The Central Library has computerized all its activities including Acquisition, Cataloguing, Circulation, and stock verification using in – house software. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) can be accessed on Internet and Intranet. The Central Library used Barcode and Biometric technology for computerized circulation system and stock verification. The Central Library has developed in-house facility for bar coding of books and ID cards.
Video Collection and Video Viewing
The Central Library has a collection of 300 video lectures. The Central Library is equipped with video viewing facility through FTP.
The Central Library remains open on all days of the academic year.
Major Services in the library include Reference Services, Photocopying service, Resource sharing (Inter – Library Loan), Information Alert services – New Arrivals.
Digital Library
Digital Library is a part of the Central Library with network built up of fiber optic Giga-byte Ethernet backbone. Digital Library has 60 computer terminals to access Internet/E-Learning material. It also has a CD server with 1000 CD capacity.
The Central Library is a member of DELNET, ASME, IEEE, ACM, MAA, MIS, EBSCO and Bio pharma International, Geotechnical Engineering, Nature, IE, Computer Society of India, SPRINGER LINK, EBSCO, and PROWSE.
