Education in India
Higher Education In India
Education has ever been looked at Indian culture as a holistic effort since time immemorial. Indian culture is in the core attributes of education beginning from Gurukul type of education, where the disciples lived in the house of the Master who taught them what all things he knew for years together. And medical education has never been an exception since the period of Vedas.
As a tradition education is being looked upon holistically even today in India. The students practise it more holistically, whatever be its field. Be it Medicine, Engineering, Electronics, Humanities or any subject one is likely to get proper Higher Education in any of these fields.
Today the Higher Education is controlled and maintained by the University Grants Commission in India. They keep the quality of education on par with the international standards, which is a heritage India acquired since the British occupation.
Since then all fields of Education remained up-to-date in quality and in quantity. Medical education, Engineering education or any type of professional education be it, it remains so even now.
Medical Education In India
Medical Education in India is also given an important consideration from an international point of view. The Medical Council of India (MCI) controls medical Education in India. All States and all Universities or Colleges that give medical education is monitored and timely inspected by the Medical Council of India every year.
They allow colleges or universities to grant MBBS, MS, MD, BDS, MDS or any Graduate or PG degree or diploma provided those colleges are strictly adhering to the standards set by the Medical Council of India.
The MBBS course is of four and a half year’s and is followed by one year of Compulsory Rotating Residential Internship. The course is taken in three stages, following a short foundation course which provides basic principles of Communication, Ethics and Problem Based Learning. The first stage is for 12 months and covers the basic sciences of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. The next stage is for 18 months and includes Pharmacology, Pathology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine.
Entrance Exams
All professional courses are open for the right students. But the admission to such courses is open only through an Entrance Examination.
In India a degree like MBBS comes as under graduate, and MD or MS falls under PG. PG diploma courses are also available in various branches in medical education.
All higher education Degrees or Diplomas are valid internationally, especially in the field of medicine and engineering.
Medical and Dental council of India
Any education in degree level or postgraduate or PG level in Medicine is either classified into medicine or Dental. Both are controlled and monitored by Medical council and Dental council, separately.
A student has to keep a watch over the medical, dental and engineering entrance tests conducted in India by various States and Universities, if he or she has to get Admission to such courses. Usually the time for such tests will be around a couple of months earlier than the month in which the actual courses start in Medical Schools. The time a new academic year begin in India is usually the month of July
Engineering Education in India
All engineering educational institutes and universities are affiliated to All India Council for Technical Education AICTE. All engineering colleges or institutes do offer graduate (BE or BTech) and post graduate( M E or M Tech). There are private and Government colleges available in plenty under each State of India and under almost all universities. We have a full list of State wise Universities or colleges offering degree and PG in professional courses such as medical, dental and engineering fields.
In short India has some of the top engineering and medical institutions in the world that offer cheapest, affordable but high quality medical, dental and engineering courses.
Courses
The literacy level in India is the highest compared to anywhere else in the world. The reason for the growth of literacy is because of the umpteen numbers of various types of Colleges and Universities offering different kinds of education in various fields beginning from Medicine to Engineering to Astronomy and Forestry.
We have plenty of Colleges and Universities offering higher education opportunities
In Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering etc offering different types of professional degrees such as MBBS, MD, MS, BDS, MDS, and all kinds of Graduate and Post Graduate degrees. So is the case with the braches of engineering too.

Centres at Kadapa and Kavali can enroll themselves as members of OSA on a lifetime membership by paying Rs. 110/-. Employment Bureau
The Placement Cell in S.V.U. College of Engineering has been operational for the last fifteen years, with the dual objective of imparting preparatory coaching to students and listening with the industry to arrange campus selections. The cell is headed by a Teacher, nominated by the Principal and is manned by an office assistant. This is a student-supported activity.
Thanks to the untiring efforts of successive Placement Officers and also to the boom in the software industry, quite a good number of graduates passing out of the college could get excellent placement in their final year itself. Oracle Software, Satyam Computers, TCS, Wipro, Sonata, BAAN and CMC are some of the leading software companies visiting the campus regularly. Some manufacturing companies, both in public and private sector, like HAL, HM, L & T, TISCO, ECIL, Voltas picked up students of this college in campus selections in the past. At its peak, the cell could arrange placements for about 50% of its intake strength. The placement cell is doing its best to project the institute and to arrange campus selections.
DIRECTORATE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION
The Directorate of Distance Education was started in 1972 as the Institute of Correspondence Courses to cater to the needs of students who could not pursue formal college education. These courses provide an opportunity to the students who discontinue education at an early stage to pursue higher studies because of lack of aptitude and motivation or for want of economic wherewithal. Individuals who look upon education as a life-time activity and like to enhance their knowledge in an existing discipline of study or acquire proficiency in a new area may also benefit from the courses. Distance Education is an attempt to diversify and proliferate academic beneficence far beyond the close confines of a classroom and to make it available to all those who aspire for higher learning. It has a special relevance in an egalitarian society, in so far as it does not have the “elitist bias” to education which is beyond the reach of many. Another advantage of such a programme is that it goes beyond the confines of University Jurisdiction.
The Institute of Correspondence Course was upgraded as the Directorate of Distance Education in 1994 as per the UGC norms.
Objectives of DDE
To provide higher educational opportunities to the people
To meet the challenges of a changing society
To promote professional efficiency for the in-service candidates
To provide better opportunity to the youth who are not able to join in conventional system due to various reasons
To provide high quality of education with minimum expenditure
To design programmes to meet the needs of the learners
To equip the learners for the university examinations.
DIRECTORATE OF ADMISSIONS
Admissions into all PG courses and Research programs are administered by the Directorate of Admissions (DOA). It conducts Common Entrance Tests (SVUCET) every year for admission into MA, MBE, M.Com, M.Ed, MFM, LLM, MLISc, M.Sc and MS Courses offered by the Constituent and Affiliated Colleges of Sri Venkateswara University.
The selection of students to Research Programs (M.Phil and Ph.D) are made on the basis of RECET conducted by the DOA from time to time.
The advertisement and notification for admissions are given by the DOA. You are also invited to visit the website www.svudoa.com for details of rules, courses of study, eligibility for writing the tests, procedure for applying, particulars of entrance tests, admission procedure, allocation of seats to various reservation categories, sponsored and paid seats, fee structure etc. You may communicate with us by e-mailing to: admissions@svudoa.com
